Outer Thighs

The outer thighs can be a tricky area for women and men to lose fat, as this is an area that is largely genetically pre-determined. This leaves many feeling helpless as exercise and healthy eating fail in losing the excess fat of the outer thighs.

Liposuction of the outer thighs can give patients a slender and lean appearance, correcting the proportions of the body and giving them greater confidence to look and feel amazing. For some, the lack of improvement in shape and size of the thighs can be difficult and creates issues with self-confidence, as no matter how much exercise they continuously do, the results do not show.
Ageing can have a large effect on the change in the appearance of the outer thighs, and is often due to the loss of tissue elasticity and increased weight in the legs and glute muscles.

The ideal candidate for outer thigh liposuction is someone who has excess fat localised to the outer thighs, as well as good skin elasticity. Those who struggle with excess loose skin or who may have lost a large amount of weight may opt for a lower body lift instead of liposuction. Often patients wanting outer thighs liposuction will combine the inner thighs, as this will improve the overall contour of the legs.

Procedure:

Outer thighs liposuction removes the excess fat or soft tissue fullness around the area. Small incisions will be made for the surgeon to insert the cannula, which is a tool used to loosen the fat as it is being suctioned out. The excess fat will be sucked out of the body, with a gentle suction motion. Once the desired amount of fat has been removed the surgeon will close the incisions.

Anaesthesia:

The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, however, if a patient wishes to be asleep during the procedure then you may opt for general anaesthetic. All anaesthesia administered by experienced board-certified anaesthetists.

In/Outpatient:

If small areas of fat are being removed, then the patient can return home that same day. If larger areas are being removed they will need to stay overnight to be monitored.

Post-operative:

It is common to experience some swelling, bruising and mild pain or discomfort after the procedure. Some pain may be felt and pain medication will be prescribed by the surgeon, as well as a compression garment which must be worn as the surgeon recommends. Every patient varies in post-op recovery, however, it is usually an easy recovery with minimal discomfort.

Recovery:

Feeling better and back to work: a few days- a week.
Strenuous activity: 4 weeks post-surgery.
Fading of scars: Several months to a year.

Results:

Improved slender and lean appearance.
Correcting the proportions of the body.
