Inner Thighs

Inner thighs liposuction tackles stubborn fat between the thighs, that many may struggle to lose with regular exercising and a healthy diet. It can be an area of insecurity for women specially, as inner thigh chafing and the trend of the ‘thigh gap’ has resulted in many feeling less confident in certain clothing.

The procedure improves the silhouette of the thigh which targets and removes the soft fat tissue, or excess fat of the inner thighs. It will improve the appearance of the thigh gap and can often eliminate the chaffing effect between the thighs, by removing the fat that creates heaviness around the area. If the patient’s overall goal is to not have their thighs touch, then the entire length of the inner thighs will be treated.

As with all liposuction procedures, if the patient desires, we can combine liposuction of the inner thighs with other areas, and is often combined with liposuction of the inner knees to give your legs an overall slimness.

The response of the inner thighs to liposuction is better than in some of the other areas of the body. As there are two layers of fat in the thighs, as opposed to the three layers in other areas. This is why the recovery process and the procedure overall is easier than other areas and is considered an excellent place for liposuction.

It is important to remember that liposuction is not a quick fix to losing weight, but the ideal candidate is someone who is close to their desired weight and maintains a healthy diet and exercising regularly. It is also recommended for those who have greater skin elasticity so that they will not be left with excess skin following the procedure.

Procedure:

A small tube, known as a cannula, will be inserted into the inner thighs area through a small incision. The cannula will soften the fat and making it easier to remove. The excess fat will be sucked out of the body, with a gentle suction motion. Once the desired amount of fat has been removed the surgeon will close the incisions. The procedure time is dependant on various factors of the patient, such as height, weight, number and the amount of excess fat being removed, however, it is commonly between 90-120 minutes.

Anaesthesia:

The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, however, if a patient wishes to be asleep during the procedure then you may opt for general anaesthetic. All anaesthesia administered by experienced board-certified anaesthetists.

In/Outpatient:

If small areas of fat are being removed, then the patient can return home that same day. If larger areas are being removed they will need to stay overnight to be monitored.

Post-operative:

It is common to experience some swelling, bruising and mild pain or discomfort after the procedure. Some pain may be felt and pain medication will be prescribed by the surgeon, as well as a compression garment which must be worn as the surgeon recommends.
